The New Mode

The Lone Star Iconoclast, the Bush's hometown (sic) local paper, reports on how the good folks of Crawford, Tx reacted to their endorsement of John Kerry:
We have been told by several avid Bush supporters that the days when newspapers publish editorials without personal repercussions are over...The new mode of operation, I am told, is that when a newspaper prints an editorial of which some sectors might disagree, the focus is now upon how to run the newspaper out of business.
There is no room for people who don't march in lockstep in a the Neo-Con world where "seems" is finale of "be". This is STRAIGHT out of Sinclair Lewis. Is this what you want your country to look like? Welcome to the Kaiser Sose school of partisan politics and raw power grabs.

Go to www.iconoclast-texas.com if you want to peruse the 700+ letters they've received. The King of Zembla points out that he majority of the letters, and the vast majority of the grammatical ones, were favorable, and correspondents from around the country wrote in to congratulate the editors on their courage.
